i never post here

i guess there isn't really ONE reason, although a friend here did recently start a new journal because her old one didn't really fit into her life anymore. that is a good point...and maybe why i never post here anymore either...plus, i am busy. working part time at the fairmount center and loving it, although the pay sucks, it is better than nothing and i am really OK with this borderline poverty, as long as i get to stay with vincent four days a week.
anyway, i think i will start another LJ too, a fresh one that feels ready to take all of my thoughts and feelings. this one just feels kinda dead.
too blissed out about the idea of potty training...

an interesting set of paradoxes

so i just had the area of my house that is carpeted cleaned. it was gross. i have a two year old (in a month) and a chihuahua, plus, punkpapa and i haven't had any carpet to deal with at all most of our lives so we are bad carpet having people (not careful with coffee/soda, bad about wiping up said liquids right away) etc. so i get this company that if you spend $88 or more you get unlimited return trips for a year for (in our case) $32. so, since i hate carpet and all of the above reasons, i sign up.
so anyway, the company also does air duct cleaning, and in this house, which we rent, the shit is dirty. gross, dusty, like, i almost barfed when the guy took the return cover off to do an estimate. which was just over $200 for the house. no way, too much. so i am putzing around while he does the carpet and i am thinking, i am not gonna be able to sleep tonight thinking about the filth in that return. so i think...lemme make him an offer. i coyly stroll out and ask him if he ever...freelances. he says, sometimes...i say, would you consider freelancing the air ducts, i can pay you 100 cash. i tell him if it is an inappropriate offer to forget i said it. he shifts, and says, well, i feel uncomfortable because *company name* frowns on it. i say, well i am sure they do, but i think you are a hard working guy and i would rather pay you what i can afford and have you keep it all than not get it done at all.
...i watch this guy sizing me up...am i a narc? am i gonna set him up and get him fired? did *company name* start employing secret shoppers? and he says he can come back later and do it. he walks around and counts the vents, etc, tells me that he will repaint the vents when he is done, he just needs paint. i tell him, hey buddy, i rent. if you don't want to repaint the vents, i am not gonna cry. i just want all of that scum outta my air ducts.
here comes the paradox...many times, i am deemed somehow untrustworthy by the mainstream because of how i look. but i think this guy trusted me BECAUSE of how i look...like, well, this chick doesn't look like she follows all the rules, so i can trust her to do this under the table gig...which is another paradox, i know...i am trustworthy enough to do shady business with. anyway, you all may be judging me for my lack of scruples, but if this nice guy can clean my ducts for half of what the company would charge, fuck the company. i just paid them 108 bucks to clean an L shape of carpet and the guy's commission was probably pretty low.
so, what do you think?

Haughty Intellectual
You are 71% Rational, 42% Extroverted, 42% Brutal, and 57% Arrogant.

You are the Haughty Intellectual. You are a very rational person, emphasizing logic over emotion, and you are also rather arrogant and self-aggrandizing. You probably think of yourself as an intellectual, and you would like everyone to know it. Not only that, but you also tend to look down on others, thinking yourself better than them. You could possibly have an unhealthy obsession with yourself as well, thus causing everyone to hate you for being such an elitist twat. On top of all that, you are also introverted and gentle. This means that you are just a quiet thinker who wants fame and recognition, in all likelihood. Rather lacking in emotion, introspective, gentle, and arrogant, you are most certainly a Haughty Intellectual! And, most likely, you will never achieve the recognition or fame you so desire! Sweet!

To put it less negatively:

1. You are more RATIONAL than intuitive.

2. You are more INTROVERTED than extroverted.

3. You are more GENTLE than brutal.

4. You are more ARROGANT than humble.

Compatibility:

Your exact opposite is the Schoolyard Bully. (Bullies like to beat up nerds, after all.)

Other personalities you would probably get along with are the Braggart, the Hand-Raiser, and the Robot.

*

*

If you scored near fifty percent for a certain trait (42%-58%), you could very well go either way. For example, someone with 42% Extroversion is slightly leaning towards being an introvert, but is close enough to being an extrovert to be classified that way as well. Below is a list of the other personality types so that you can determine which other possible categories you may fill if you scored near fifty percent for certain traits.

The other personality types:

The Emo Kid: Intuitive, Introverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Starving Artist: Intuitive, Introverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Bitch-Slap: Intuitive, Introverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Brute: Intuitive, Introverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

The Hippie: Intuitive, Extroverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Televangelist: Intuitive, Extroverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Schoolyard Bully: Intuitive, Extroverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Class Clown: Intuitive, Extroverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

The Robot: Rational, Introverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Haughty Intellectual: Rational, Introverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Spiteful Loner: Rational, Introverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Sociopath: Rational, Introverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

The Hand-Raiser: Rational, Extroverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Braggart: Rational, Extroverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Capitalist Pig: Rational, Extroverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Smartass: Rational, Extroverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

so very true

You scored as Postmodernist. Postmodernism is the belief in complete open interpretation. You see the universe as a collection of information with varying ways of putting it together. There is no absolute truth for you; even the most hardened facts are open to interpretation. Meaning relies on context and even the language you use to describe things should be subject to analysis.

Postmodernist

94%

Modernist

94%

Existentialist

88%

Materialist

75%

Idealist

63%

Cultural Creative

63%

Romanticist

50%

Fundamentalist

31%

</td>

What is Your World View?
created with QuizFarm.com

wow, tired

for having slept every time vincent slept today i sure am tired.
when i took him for his 6 month shots and check up on tuesday, i was pretty alarmed at the fact that he hasn't gained any weight in the last two and a half months. he feels heavier. he has grown two full inches, but no pounds. and the doctor suggested one bottle of formula a day to help him gain. so daddy is gonna do that. but the more important thing is to feed him cereal and food two to three times a day, which i haven't been doing. so i will be making that a priority. it is just so much easier to nurse him, but i don't eat well and i get dehydrated, so the nursing is really starting to wear me out. so, i will eat better, more frequently, really, is the deal, and not slack on my hydration (water and herbal tea, iced) and we will add the bottle and the food. and in one month we go back for one more shot and to get weighed (both of us!!). that will be right around my birthday. so, wish me luck.
tomorrow is my parent's 38th wedding anniversary. trippy. i will be 70 fucking years old when josh and i hit 38 years together. well, my dad is gonna be 70 in july, so...
whatever. we are going to join them for dinner in plano tomorrow.
the other goal for this weekend is to get a storage space and fill it up with all of the shite that is over taking my life. i hate STUFF.

The Keys to Your Heart

You are attracted to those who have a split personality - cold as ice on the outside but hot as fire in the heart.

In love, you feel the most alive when your lover is creative and never lets you feel bored.

You'd like to your lover to think you are loyal and faithful... that you'll never change.

You would be forced to break up with someone who was ruthless, cold-blooded, and sarcastic.

Your ideal relationship is lasting. You want a relationship that looks to the future... one you can grow with.

Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment.

You think of marriage as something precious. You'll treasure marriage and treat it as sacred.

In this moment, you think of love as commitment. Love only works when both people are totally devoted.

so i had a fantastic first mother's day...
we went to eat at a gigantic asian buffet in plano with my mom and dad. they had decent sushi and huge crab claws and singapore fried noodles. yum. didn't gorge myself, thanks to vincent, who wanted to slurp for a long time. so i only could pick while he was at it. all for the best. my mom fed him some jello...he is so cute when he tastes something new, he makes the best faces.
anyway, my mom and dad each handed me a rose when we got there. *choke up* and they bought me an overpriced high chair that i was lusting after. a note on the overpriced high chair...and whatever other overpriced baby gear i have...i never had matching grown up furniture that i picked myself until last june. i am not willing, having accomplished matching furniture, to splash bright ass primary colors all over the place, thereby ruining the asthetic oasis that i now possess. in general, inexpensive baby gear is uglier than overpriced baby gear. eliltism? sure. but i am not putting a blue and green and orange and yellow and white high chair next to my solid black granite dining table. not thanks to my parents! yea! here is the new addition...http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00070QJBW/102-7397098-5640959?v=glance&s=baby&n=547944&me=A1F83G8C2ARO7P&vi=pictures&img=14#more-pictures
now, josh did an amazing job with gifting this new mama. from him...a paul frank bloodsucker julius doll (julius as a vampire! yes!) a pair of soft pink scurvy slippers and a pair of black scurvy slipper socks (speaking of overpriced...he knows i am a sucker for paul frank), plus a MASSAGE gift certificate (how i love that man) and...bend it like beckham on dvd (one of my fave movies) and a KICK ASS bhangra cd (indian music, like in the movie in the wedding scene) which i love. and from vincent...best of all, a sterling silver link bracelet with a sterling silver padlock...with a "v" engraved on it. *sigh* i will wear it forever and ever. and really lovely cards from everyone, including one from vincent that josh picked out with a silly duckling on the front, that said "to my mommy", which of course made me cry.
anyway, we spent the rest of the afternoon in plano with my parents, just chillin. i took a nap on the couch with vincent, it was nice.
i feel really good. just really content and focused. i like my life right now.

busy week

well it was a busy week alst week...i'll start on thursday i guess...
thursday was a big day for me, vincent was six months old. this is a milestone, half a year. it really sounds cliche but i can't believe that he is only six months old, and i can't believe he is already six months old. it feels like i have been his mother since the beginning of time, and i think this is because i became who i am now the day he was born. i really was born with him. my life will never feel meaningless again, i am a mother, i have a person for whom i am the provider, the one who creates his universe. it is an honor and a responsibility that i only thought i understood before he was born. everything else is what seems meaningless now. the perspective i have on the world since he entered it is radically different, so clear, so obvious. obvious what is important, what is stupid, what is noble and what is pathetic. how to behave, what to do, what decision is the right one is now so obvious. i love him more than i can even begin to explain. watching him develop and learn each day is humbling, but also empowering. so that was thursday. we went and did the six month pictures...i am really happy that i have kept this going, i am going to appreciate the month by month progression of his growth. subtle but amazing changes are taking place. i should line them up and look at them so far...hmmm, a project for later.
anyway, friday was not so interesting, we hung out at home and then met amy to pick up supplies for claire's shower. i did spy some shower things that inspired me for my sister's shower, and decided that the theme will be pink and silver, like, pink flowers in silver vases, shiny silver balloons with pink ribbons, silver cups with pink candy, etc. more ideas to follow, i am sure. pale pink, because that is what she wants, and shiny silver because i want it to be unique, and i barf over pink pink pink. i think it will be really cool, what i have in my head. mom and i are going shopping for this next wednesday. i am excited, now if i can manage to convince her to pick ariel over kayla as a first name...
saturday was all shower...many more errands, then off to wylie to set it up. great house. i think the spread looked awesome, i am a glue gun addict. claire looked beautiful, of course, and seemed relaxed and happy. i hope that is how she felt. vincent was so good for me, he is so personable. is my endless socialization of him paying off? i hope so.
and today, well, today is my first mother's day. i am excited about it, i know alot of people think that it is a hallmark creation, but it is actually not. this is one version of its origins for anybody interested http://www.chiff.com/a/mothers-day-origins.htm. anyway, i think that being an athiest has forced me, in a way, to decide on secular and personal meanings for all of the holidays, because they all have an original meaning that is either religious or commercial, neither of which is my thing. so, i will continue to do so with mother's day. i have always loved it, as far as celebrating my mom, so on we go.
more on that later. i gotta go get ready.

PLEASE READ AND REPOST

X-POSTED

Rx Cost

..let's hear it for Costco!! (This is just mind-boggling!)
Make sure you read all the way past the list of the drugs

The woman that signed below is a Budget Analyst out
of federal Washington, D.C. offices.

Did you ever wonder how much it costs a drug company
for the active ingredient in prescription medications?
Some people think it must cost a lot, since many drugs sell
for more than $2.00 per tablet.

We did a search of offshore chemical synthesizers
that supply the active ingredients found in drugs approved by the FDA.

As we have revealed in past issues of Life Extension, a significant
percentage of drugs sold in the United States contain active ingredients
made in
other countries.

In our independent investigation of how muchprofit drug companies really
make,
we obtained the actual price of active ingredients used in some of the
most popular
drugs sold in America.

The chart below speaks for itself.

Celebrex 100 mg
Consumer price (100 tablets): $130.27
Cost of general active ingredients: $0.60
Percent markup: 21,712%

Claritin 10 mg
Consumer Price (100 tablets): $215.17
Cost of general active ingredients: $0.71
Percent markup: 30,306%

Keflex 250 mg
Consumer Price (100 tablets): $157.39
Cost of general active ingredients: $1.88
Percent markup: 8,372%

Lipitor 20 mg
Consumer Price (100 tablets): $272.37
Cost of general active ingredients: $5.80
Percent markup: 4,696%

Norvasc 10 mg
Consumer price (100 tablets): $188.29
Cost of general active ingredients: $0.14
Percent markup: 134,493%

Paxil 20 mg
Consumer price (100 tablets): $220.27
Cost of general active ingredients: $7.60
Percent markup: 2,898%

Prevacid 30 mg
Consumer price (100 tablets): $44.77
Cost of general active ingredients: $1.01
Percent markup: 34,136%

Prilosec 20 mg
Consumer price (100 tablets): $360.97
Cost of general active ingredients $0.52
Percent markup: 69,417%

Prozac 20 mg
Consumer price (100 tablets) : $247.47
Cost of general active ingredients: $0.11
Percent markup: 224,973%

Tenormin 50 mg
Consumer price (100 tablets): $104.47
Cost of general active ingredients: $0.13
Percent markup: 80,362%

Vasotec 10 mg
Consumer price (100 tablets): $102.37
Cost of general active ingredients: $0.20
Percent markup: 51,185%

Xanax 1 mg
Consumer price (100 tablets) : $136.79
Cost of general active ingredients: $0.024
Percent markup: 569,958%

Zestril 20 mg
Consumer price (100 tablets) $89.89
Cost of general active ingredients $3.20
Percent markup: 2,809%

Zithromax 600 mg
Consumer price (100 tablets): $1,482.19
Cost of general active ingredients: $18.78
Percent markup: 7,892%

Zocor 40 mg
Consumer price (100 tablets): $350.27
Cost of general active ingredients: $8.63
Percent markup: 4,059%

Zoloft 50 mg
Consumer price: $206.87
Cost of general active ingredients: $1.75
Percent markup: 11,821%

Since the cost of prescription drugs is so outrageous, I thought
everyone knew should know about this. Please read
the following and pass it on. It pays to shop around. This helps to
solve the mystery as to why they can afford to put a Walgreen's on every
corner. On Monday night, Steve Wilson, an investigative reporter for
Channel 7 News in Detroit, did a story on generic drug price gouging by
pharmacies.
He found in his investigation, that some of these generic drugs were
marked up
as much as 3,000% or more. Yes, that's not a typo.....three thousand
percent!
So often, we blame the drug companies for the high cost of drugs, and
usually
rightfully so.
But in this case, the fault clearly lies with the pharmacies themselves.
For example, if you had to buy a prescription drug, and bought the name
brand, you might pay $100 for 100 pills.

The pharmacist might tell you that if you get the generic equivalent,
they would
only cost $80, making you think you are "saving" $20.
What the pharmacist is not telling you is that those 100 generic
pills may have only cost him $10!

At the end of the report, one of the anchors asked Mr. Wilson
whether or not there were any pharmacies that did not
adhere to this practice, and he said that
Costco consistently charged little over their cost for the generic
drugs.

I went to the Costco site, where you can look up any
drug, and get its online price. It says that the in-store
prices are consistent with the online prices. I was appalled. Just to
give you one example from my own experience, I had to use the drug,
Compazine, which helps prevent nausea in chemo patients.

I used the generic equivalent, which cost $54.99 for 60 pills at
CVS. I checked the price at Costco, and I could have bought 100 pills
for $19.89. For 145 of my pain pills, I paid $72.57.
I could have got 150 at Costco for $28.08.

I would like to mention, that although Costco is a
"membership" type store, you do NOT have to be a member to buy
prescriptions there, as it is a federally regulated substance.
You just tell them at the door that you wish to use the pharmacy, and
they
will let you in. (this is true, I went there this past Thursday and
asked
them.) I am asking each of you to please help me by copying this
letter,
and passing it into your own email, and send it to everyone you know
with an email address.

Sharon L. Davis
Budget Analyst
U.S. Department of Commerce
Room 6839
Office Ph: 202-482-4458
Office Fax: 202-482-5480
Email Address: sdavis@doc.gov

please post a comment repeating the questions with your answer!

1. Who are you?
2. Are we friends?
3. When and how did we meet?
4. How have I affected you?
5. What do you think of me?
6. What's the fondest memory you have of me?
7. How long do you think we will be friends?
8. Do you love me?
9. Do you have a crush on me?
10. Would you kiss me?
11. Would you hug me?
12. Physically, what stands out?
13. Emotionally, what stands out?
14. Do you wish I was cooler?
15. On a scale of 1-10, how fucking amazing am I?
16. Give me a nickname and explain why you picked it.
17. Am I lovable?
18. How long have you known me?
19. Describe me in one word.
20. What was your first impression?
21. Do you still think that way about me now?
22. What do you think my weakness is?
23. Do you think I'll get married?
24. What makes me happy?
25. What makes me sad?
26. What reminds you of me?
27. If you could give me anything what would it be?
28. How well do you know me?
29. When's the last time you saw me?
30. Ever wanted to tell me something but couldn't (if so. do it.)?
31. Do you think I could kill someone? who?
32.
first time for everything

well, thanks to anybody who voted for bush, or who didn't vote at all...this time AND last time...
and thanks to the entire climate of intolerance in this country...
i no longer have a job, and thousands of people in pain will have nowhere to turn.
the entire outpatient department of turtle creek manor has been discontinued, closed down etc...due to lack of funding.
i worked there for four and a half years, and i worked hard, with little pay, little benefits, but as corn ball as it sounds, i did it because occasionally i think i really made a difference.
and now i won't get that chance anymore, nor will the ten other people that got laid off today.
oh well.
remember...i am not on a high horse here...but a society is only as strong as its weakest link, and our weak link is tragically weak, hopelessly weak, and the attitude in this country is so fucked up, so externally focused, that we send billions of dollars into the desert thousands and thousands of miles away to kill people, but a small non-profit agency that helps mentally ill and addicted people get well can't pay me 33,000 a year to help them learn to help themselves.
nice.
"god" bless amerikkka.
